Music Theory: The student will demonstrate fluent skills in music theory, including a developed
academic understanding of music theory, as well as proficiency in aural skills and
sight-singing/sight-reading.

Music Studies: The student will describe the elements of different musical styles and genres, and
use these elements to define and analyze the music’s era and/or culture.

Teaching: The student will learn about teaching philosophies and gain teaching experience
in a variety of teaching situations, demonstrate an understanding of classroom music
programs and their function within the public and private school systems, and will
be prepared to enter a teacher certification program.
