The Chapman University Alumni Board of Directors, in collaboration with the Office of Alumni Engagement, fosters strong, enduring relationships between alumni and the university by advising on programs, volunteer opportunities, and communications that enhance the alumni experience and support the university's strategic initiatives.

Commitment Overview
- Board members serve for three years, providing you with ample opportunity to contribute to Chapman's growth and impact. The next three-year term will commence on June 1, 2025 and end on May 31, 2028.
- There are four meetings per year to strategize, plan, and evaluate alumni initiatives. While we understand the demands of busy schedules, we request that members attend at least one meeting in person. However, all meetings offer a Zoom link for remote participation, ensuring accessibility and flexibility for all members.
- All board members are asked to serve on at least one committee. Your involvement in these committees will allow you to dive deeper into specific areas of interest, collaborate with fellow board members, and drive meaningful change.
Ideal Candidates
- Want to share their expertise and talents to advance the goals of the Alumni Board and the Office of Alumni Engagement.
- Are able to invest their time and efforts in Chapman's future to benefit all alumni and students.
- Attend Chapman events to engage alumni, students, parents, and faculty/staff.
- Have volunteered in an alumni capacity for Chapman University.
Committee Descriptions
- Alumni Recognition Committee: Identifies and implements initiatives and programs to honor and celebrate the achievements and contributions of our alumni community.
- Engagement Committee: Partners with the Office of Alumni Engagement to identify, support, and amplify opportunities for the alumni network to stay engaged with the university.
- Development Committee: Supports and raises awareness of Chapman’s fundraising efforts, including Giving Day, donor stewardship, and impact storytelling.
- Strategy and Operations Committee: Charged with establishing and executing the strategic plan of the Board and overseeing new member recruitment and onboarding.
- New Alumni Committee: Provides the Office of Alumni Engagement with guidance and insights on ways to best engage alumni who have graduated within the last ten years, helping to ensure a smooth student-to-alumni transition.

- How you stay involved with Chapman and what skills you would bring to the Board.
- Resume required.
- Letters of Recommendation are strongly encouraged but are not required. They often come from individuals familiar with the applicant's involvement in the Chapman community, professional work, volunteerism, or other areas demonstrating relevant skills. If you would like support with a letter of recommendation, please contact the Office of Alumni Engagement.
Application Timeline:
- March 23 - Applications Close.
- Late March - Applicants will be notified if they have been selected for interviews.
- Mid April - Interview with Current Board Members.
- Early May - Interviewed Candidates will be notified if they have been voted in.
