Students who major in a Performance – Guitar are often a double major within another
music department program, such as music education. The guitar becomes their major
instrument. Students prior to graduation must demonstrate fluent musicianship in
areas including music theory, aural skills, sight reading, knowledge of musical styles,
and basic piano skills. Students must be able to perform both as a soloist, and within
an ensemble, as well as demonstrate basic improvisation techniques.
