»Theater and Arts Safety

An important goal of Chapman University is to prevent accidents and cases of environment-related illness. Paramount to this goal is the implementation of practices to provide adequate control of health and safety risks arising from working and learning activities in theater and arts workspaces. We achieve this by providing a range of learning tools and programs for users. We also undertake relevant risk assessments, including site inspections to help identify and ensure action required to remove/control risks.

Programs

The purpose of theater and arts safety is to ensure the well-being of everyone involved in the production and performance of live theater, film, dance, and other artistic events. This encompasses the safety of actors, crew, staff, and audiences from potential hazards that could arise in the creation, setup, and execution of performances. Given the physical demands, technical equipment, and sometimes high-risk environments involved in live performances, safety protocols are crucial to prevent accidents, injuries, and health risks.

  • Recommend health and safety strategies, policies, and programs to EH&S and the Chapman University General Campus Safety Committee.
  • Serve as a contact for students, faculty, and staff to help respond to and address health and safety concerns.
