
Chris Bailey
Biography
Chris Bailey is a seasoned animator, director, and showrunner, boasting extensive experience in both traditional and CG character animation. His illustrious career kicked off at Walt Disney Feature Animation, where he started as an animator and transitioned into directing visual effects for live-action films, TV series, shorts, theme park ride films and feature films. Some of his more memorable projects include Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Hocus Pocus, Kim Possible, X-Men ll and Alvin & the Chipmunks. Notably, his debut short film, Runaway Brain, earned a prestigious Academy Award nomination. His direction of the Universal theme park ride film Minion Mayhem earned both an Annie Award and Best Visual Effects award from the Visual Effects Society.
As animation supervisor for live action/animation hybrids, Bailey plays a pivotal role in the production process, from initial designs and storyboarding through post-production. He collaborates closely with directors and visual effects studios and the crew, creating compelling and relatable characters that resonate with audiences.
Beyond his achievements in the entertainment industry, Bailey is committed to nurturing the next generation of animators and storytellers. In addition to teaching at Dodge College, where he imparts his knowledge and insights on animation and storyboarding, he also works and teaches at Exceptional Minds, an L.A. based academy and studio for animators and VFX artists with autism.
