Cristina Lord is a Los Angeles-based composer, electronic musician, pianist, and educator.
As a composer, she is particularly interested in interdisciplinary collaboration with
other art mediums such as dance, video art, and theatre. Additionally, she is passionate
about the intersection between different genres of music, more generally in the crossover
between popular and experimental styles of music. Her work has been performed by Experiments
in Opera, loadbang, HOCKET, c3LA, Neave Trio, Friction Quartet, the Southern California
Brass Consortium, and New Century Voices, among others. She has participated and been
featured in festivals and institutes such as the Hear Now Music Festival, New Music
Gathering, Oh My Ears, soundpedro, Longy’s Divergent Studio, Westben, and the Splice
Institute. Cristina is co-founder of the Los Angeles Electroacoustic Ensemble, a laptop
quartet specializing in the performance of live electronic chamber music. She also
produces indie electronic music under the moniker Universed. Besides writing, Cristina
is active in the Los Angeles arts community as associate director of People Inside
Electronics, a new music collective devoted to the performance and promotion of live
electroacoustic music. As an educator, she teaches classes related to music technology,
musicianship, and theory at Fullerton College in addition to private lessons.
