Biography
Director/screenwriter David Ward brings a distinguished filmography to leading the
screenwriting program in the Dodge College. In addition to directing such films as Major League and Cannery Row, he won an Academy Award for his screenplay for The Sting and was nominated for Sleepless in Seattle. David continues as an active director, with two features currently in production.
He was previously our Marion Knott Filmmaker-in-Residence. He has an M.F.A. in Motion
Pictures from U.C.L.A. and studied political science at Pomona College, where he is
a member of the board of trustees.

Recent Creative, Scholarly Work and Publications
- Sold Screenplay for "Dakar" to 87eleven Entertainment (Chad Stahelski and Keanu Reeves company). Out to directors now.
- Wrote Screenplay "Lime Green in the High Ground" for producers Michael Phillips and Chris Chesser for Lighthouse Productions
- Started writing pilot episode of "No Name on the Bullet" for producer Dean Devlin and Electric Entertainment.
- Had film "I'll Find You" which I co-wrote, released on Apple+ and is now rotating through Amazon Prime, Hulu and other streamers
- Wrote Feature screenplay "Dakar" for Producer Steve Shapiro and Das Films and Argus Entertainment Capital
- Made deal to write limited series on Audie Murphy for Arthur Friedman and Fast Carrier Pictures
- Rewrite on "The Black " for Das Films and Argus Entertainment Capital Finished writing the mini-series bible of "Paydirt" for Toni Bill productions and Frank Marshall
- Wrote Screenplay "The Trouble With Tulips for Crown for Doone City Pictures/Crown Media Am writing the miniseries "Paydirt" for Toni Bill Productions
- Finished the Screenplay "The Yuletide Inn" for Motion Picture Corporation of America
- Wrote TV pilot "Dove's Crew" for the Motion Content Group Wrote a feature script "Red Ivory" for Sprockefeller Productions
