Biography
Professor Tymann has taught legal research and writing at Chapman since joining the faculty in 2023. He previously worked at Northwestern California University School of Law, where he taught online classes in Torts, Constitutional Law, and Civil Procedure, as well as legal writing.
Professor Tymann graduated from Cornell Law School, summa cum laude, and from Georgetown University. While at Cornell Law, he served as an articles editor on the Cornell Law Review, a bench editor on the moot court board, and a teaching assistant for the first-year lawyering class. After law school, he worked as a law clerk for Judge F. Dennis Saylor IV of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and Judge David J. Barron of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. He then practiced litigation at the law firm of Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, LLP, first in the firm's Boston office and later in its Los Angeles office. More recently, he has served as a panel attorney for Appellate Defenders, Inc., handling appeals on behalf of indigent criminal defendants in Southern California.
