»Schweitzer Scholarship Recipients

Samara Fitzgerald is a junior from Chicago, Illinois, majoring in Creative Producing with a Business Administration minor. In addition to her commitment to academic excellence, Sammy has brought her “Letters to Santa” project to the Chapman campus, this year involving students, faculty, staff and community members in answering 1200 letters from Orange County school children in need and even getting President Struppa to act as Santa in the distribution of gifts. Schweitzer encouraged us all to discover our own such “project of love” in which to invest our humanity, and Sammy epitomizes this ideal, even as she does the pursuit of learning.

Mitchel Rosenberg is a senior from Calabasas, California, double majoring in Political Science and Television Writing and Production. Beginning his second term as Student Body President, Mitchell is both an outstanding scholar and a dedicated and inspiring servant leader, who has brought real improvement to the lives of his fellow students, especially through his innovative work with administration and staff to improve mental health services on campus. His future plans include pursuing a Masters in Public Policy with a goal of ensuring access to quality education for all.
