Offered in partnership with the Orange County Public Defender’s Office, the Chapman
University Fowler School of Law Criminal Defense Clinic allows upper-level students
who are exploring careers in advocacy, litigation, and criminal law a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience assisting with cases under the
supervision of the Public Defender’s Office.
The classroom component of the clinic is taught by Public Defender Mark Brown. Students
work closely with Public Defenders in the courtroom, assisting with defending felony
and misdemeanor cases.

Course Information for Students
The Criminal Defense Clinic is a four (4) credit course beginning Spring 2023, and
available to 2L and 3L students who have successfully completed Evidence. Enrollment
is contingent on the successful completion of a background check.
