As you plan your travel abroad experience, here are some things to consider:

  • Semester/year abroad: With over 100 programs offered, you're bound to find one that aligns with your goals all while earning Chapman credit towards your degree.
  • Interterm/summer programs (travel courses): Travel courses allow you to study abroad and earn credits without committing to a full semester away, and also can support a minor or an area of personal interest.
  • International internships: International internships offer valuable networking opportunities and practical experience, helping you to enhance your resume while giving you a global perspective on the business world.

Funding your international experiencestudents in london

To provide global experiences to as many students as possible, the Center for Global Education offers scholarships to help cover the costs of studying in another country.

Additionally, students participating in a summer or interterm travel course or international internship may qualify for a  one-time tuition waiver.

Business and economics abroad programs

Note that to receive upper-division business credits abroad, you must study at an AACSB-accredited university, which ensures the program meets high standards for business education.

Semester-long programsstudent in South Korea

Many Argyros students choose to do a semester abroad during their sophomore year.

  • This way you can finish your General Education requirements in your study abroad program. This is often the easiest way to go abroad for a full semester. 
  • Regardless, study abroad opportunities are available throughout your college career so you can still go abroad during your later years, especially if your GE requirements are complete.

Recommended universities for Argyros students to consider for a semester abroad include these AACSB-accredited institutions:

  • Korea University (Seoul):This program offers courses in English and Korean, so no prior language study is needed. Experience South Korea’s rich culture, from its history and modern innovations to vibrant city life, while building a global network through university events and activities.
  • University of Limerick Ireland:This institution offers courses in Business, Arts & Social Sciences, Sports Science & Kinesiology, and more, plus rich cultural experiences through events like Diwali, Chinese New Year and Irish festivals.
  • University of Otago in New Zealand (Dunedin):Thisinstitution offers rigorous business courses alongside housing, community integration and rich cultural experiences, from stunning landscapes to Maori culture and outdoor adventures.

Interterm and summer travel coursestravel course

Going abroad over Interterm (the winter break) or summer can be a great option because:

  • It won’t interrupt your fall/spring coursework.
  • Every year there should be several options tailored to Argyros students. 
  • Tuition is waived for your first travel course! (Students are responsible for travel and costs while abroad, but scholarships are available.)

Popular business/economics travel courses for Argyros students include:

  • Business Across Cultures (Interterm course): Focuses on evaluating how differences in national, corporate, and professional culture can be orchestrated to maximize firm value through visits to local and foreign-invested businesses, offering insights into business culture/environment on a global scale.
  • Hanyang University - ISEP Direct (summer course): Spend four weeks in Seoul at an AACSB-accredited institution studying business courses alongside international students and making local friends in one of the world's most vibrant cities, where technology, history, and nature blend seamlessly.
  • Building Cross-Cultural Business Competencies (Interterm course): This course is exclusively for graduate students and delves into the economies and business environments of the Asia-Pacific region, with a particular focus on Greater China, Taiwan, and Japan.

International internships

International internships can be completed during a semester abroad  or during  the summer  and are highly customizable to align with your goals and preferences.

  • As an Argyros student, you might consider exploring internship opportunities in dynamic global hubs such as Dublin, Sydney, and Seoul. 
  • All pre-approved international internships through the Center for Global Education will count for academic credit, even if they’re not with a U.S.-based company.
