How to Apply

Students interested in the dual degree program must meet all admission requirements for each school. Students will make only one financial aid application. Scholarships and grants applicable to each degree will be decided by the separate schools.

Students may apply to the joint program, alternatively, students may also apply to the Professional MBA Program during their first year in the food science program, and students may apply to the MS Food Science program during their first year of study in the Professional MBA program.

  • Submit the online application
  • Upload resume
  • Upload Personal Statement Essay (prompt is available by accessing the online application)
  • Request to have official Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score reported to Chapman. The student needs to achieve a score of at least a 580 and ideally should be taken by July 1. In lieu of GMAT, Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores may be accepted. Applicants must achieve the following minimum GRE scores:

                             Verbal:153
                             Quantitative: 153
                             Analytical Writing: 3.5

  • Mail official academic transcript from undergraduate degree granting institution to:

  • Upload contact information for two recommenders.  A recommender should be someone familiar with the applicant's academic or professional abilities

International Applicants

In addition to the steps above:

  • Submit score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
  • Submit copy of your diploma
  • Complete the financial statement form required for the student visa

Prerequisites and Program Requirements

Offered at a full-time and part-time pace, the program requires acceptance into both the MBA program in the Argyros School of Business and Economics and the MS in Food Science in the Schmid College of Science and Technology.

Students must satisfy the minimum requirements for each degree program including course requirements, residency, and other requirements listed in the Graduate Catalog.  The dual degree program requires the completion of 69 total credits (as opposed to 81 credits if the two degrees are sought separately and outside the joint program).  Check the graduate catalog for complete details.
