The Analytics Minor at Chapman provides students from any major with key skills in data-driven decision-making.
Combining modern statistical methods and advanced technology, this minor bridges business, mathematics and the sciences to prepare you to solve real-world challenges using data, an increasing need for virtually every organization and in every industry.
What you’ll learn
The minor starts with essential foundations, covering topics such as business analytics and computer science, then progresses to core data-driven concepts.
Through the minor, you can develop a strong foundation in:

Curriculum and course requirements

On the homepage linked above, select “George L. Argyros College of Business and Economics” from the left-hand column and scroll to the “Minors” section to find the Analytics minor requirements.
The Analytics minor requires you to complete 24 credits in total.
All students are required to take these lower-division courses:
- MGSC 220: Foundations of Business Analytics
- CPSC 230: Computer Science I
And one of the following:
- MATH 203: Introduction to Statistics
- PSY 203: Statistics for Behavioral Sciences
- MGSC 209: Introductory Business Statistics
Additionally, all students are required to take these upper-division courses:
- MGSC 310: Statistical Models in Business Analytics
- CPSC 392: Introduction to Data Science
- MGSC 410: Applied Business Analytics
You will then pick 2 courses from the following list of electives:
- BIOL 302: Introduction to Bioinformatics
