Business of Entertainment Minor

»Business of Entertainment Minor

The Business of Entertainment minor is designed for students interested in exploring the dynamic, behind-the-scenes aspects of the entertainment industry—from sports and gaming to music, live events, and digital media.

If you are looking to build a career as a producer, entrepreneur or director for an established company, the Business of Entertainment minor can equip you with the foundations needed to thrive in creative industries.

(Students pursuing an Entrepreneurship minor are not eligible to add the Business of Entertainment minor.)

What you’ll learnStudents in class

The minor starts with essential foundations, including entrepreneurship in the entertainment industry, strategy and collaboration, and then progresses into core business principles to prepare you for success in roles within both traditional and online studio systems.

Through the minor, you will gain skills such as:

  • Strategic planning
  • Budgeting and financial management
  • Marketing and brand development.
  • Communication (with business partners, agents and managers).
  • Entertainment law.
  • Digital media and content strategy.

These skills are essential not only for launching a successful career in entertainment but also for being able to identify opportunities and become an innovator in the industry.
